Creating the Autumn Poster

This week I have been working on creating an autumnal scene on which to base our autumn window. It felt like summer had only just begun but there is already a chill in the air!

There is no doubt that animal designs are everywhere this autumn with great big owls and foxes knitted onto the chests of jumpers in every other shop window! I love our silver owl and fox charms, so a woodland of bare branches and dropping leaves seemed the obvious choice.

Something about the trees in autumn always reminds me of fairytales; Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood wandering through the woods where the branches are transformed to clasping fingers and the little girl is unsure of the friendliness of the woodland creatures. This is the main inspiration for the setting made from paper cut-outs of twisting and sharp-angled trees through which our animal charms roam.
